Meet Our Horses
Momma Mia
Our eldest of the horses, Mia brings a nurturing element to those who may need to feel loved and cared for. She earned her name Momma Mia due to her natural ability to comfort and snuggle those she senses may be missing affection and support. Mia is a full sized American Paint horse. She has struggled with health issues since she came to us. We continue to provide her ongoing medical and physical support so she is able to give back to the clients.
Aurora
Aurora is also an American Paint, however is a pony, which means she is smaller in size than a full sized horse. She is a unique pony, full of personality. She likes to test people by acting like she is scared of you. Once she is ready, the possibilities of the work you can do with her are vast. She mirrors the clients and is a wonderful therapy pony. Aurora is a former Gymkana pony and is a total foodie. Due to the arthritis in her back, we also provide her ongoing medical and physical support so she can continue to connect to our clients.
Ginger
Ginger is also an American paint like Aurora and Mia, however she is a mini, or quarter-scale horse. She is basically a shrinky-dink of a full sized horse, being the same scale as a large horse if you were to see her in the great distance. Ginger can be sassy and loves to play with people and other horses. She was a carting mini, which means she used to pull a person in a cart and could even drag the arena if we needed her to. Ginger does great therapy work with all clients and can even be ridden by our smaller clients. She is definitely a hit at the barn and draws everyone in with her cuteness.
Mack
Our largest horse, Mack is a Quarter horse we think has some Draft in him. His chill vibe makes him easy to work with and he can always be counted on for a hug. Mack was a former rodeo horse that was used as a pick up man. That means they used him to ride out and pick up the riders that fell or needed to be pulled in from the arena for their safety. Now that he is with us, he is still helping people, just in a different way. Mack came with ring bone in his front feet and is also on consistent medical and physical care. It is hard to pass by his stall without giving him some cuddles and love.
Galileo
Definitely the most dynamic horse we have, Galileo is most noticeable due to his vibrant personality and head banging charm. He earned his name due to his ethereal nature and dance-like moves. Clients love to dance along with him as they experience his deep sensitivity and willingness to connect. Gally came to us in an emaciated state. With the love of everyone at the barn and some really good food and nutrients, he filled out beautifully. He continues to receive unique care for his anxiety with food. You will get to experience his uniqueness, including some sounds unlike any other horse can make, when you come to the barn.
Stormy
Stormy is a 16 year old seal brown, off the track Thoroughbred, often referred to as an OTTB. She is a mare (female horse) and is an absolute love. She has quickly become the most social of the herd and is always ready to greet people. She came to us being referred to as an orphan who never had a real home. Shuffled around from place to place after being on the race track, she has finally found a safe space with us. Unfortunately, because she was a former racehorse, she has many ailments we are working to rehab. She came with scars and years of wear and tear on her body. This has made her a beautiful partner when working with teen girls, non-binary teens, young adults and those struggling with self-harm. She shows the clients her grace and power that comes along with her scars and ailments. The immediate connections she has made with our teens and young adults is astonishing. She was meant for therapy work and with our help, she will bring comfort and healing to so many.
